About Me
Hello! My name is Stephanie de Sousa. I am a web and graphic designer. I just graduated from Valencia College's A.S. in Interactive Design program and I love learning! I love learning so much that I have earned two bachelor’s degrees in journalism and history, an associate’s degree, a technical certificate, and I am now this. Web design is perfect for me because it changes all the time and there’s always something new to learn. Change is wonderful.
I worked an office job in higher education with great benefits for a while. As a fast learner, I excelled at pushing papers, but I really just looked forward to making creative birthday cards and designing resumes for my coworkers. While my heart has always been in higher education, I felt that I wasn't being challenged creatively and my hands were tied with what I could do.
In the summer of 2014, I made a huge decision to quit my job and finish this last degree as soon as possible. What an adjustment. I was so used to working full time, going to school part time, and working another job on the weekends, so slowing down wasn't really in my manner.
However, I do believe that great risk can sometimes lead to great reward. I put everything I had into developing a portfolio and learned more skills so that I could do this coding thing full time. I love it. I’ve never been happier doing anything else and I knew that it was up to no one else but me to make it happen.
Now, I work full time as a project manager/graphic designer where I completed my internship and, although I don't get to do any coding, I will use this website to help me to exercise and develop my skills in any spare time I might have.
